Our History

Founded in 1929, Grahams have evolved over the years to accommodate your technology needs.

As one of the first home automation specialists in the UK, and a founder member of the industry's two trade bodies, Grahams are true experts in the design and installation of electronic systems for the home.

Founded in 1929, the family business of Grahams Electrical was well known in Clerkenwell and the City for offering a remarkably high standard of personal service. In 1967 we opened a specialist Hi-Fi department and our personal approach towards helping our customers find the right solution to their music-playing needs struck a strong chord with a much wider audience.

In 1969 we took over a warehouse-type building in Pentonville Road, Islington on the edge of the City of London. Over the next three years, we built three special demonstration rooms, carefully creating conditions found in the average domestic listening environment that would permit the listener to hear the differences between various pieces of equipment. In 1989, as a result of the redevelopment of the Pentonville Road site, we were able to move to a new location, ten minutes away.

Our move to Canonbury Yard gave us the chance to create a purpose-built facility, mainly on one floor (for wheelchair access), with four air-conditioned listening studios and lots of free parking. In 2002 Arena magazine described Grahams Hi-Fi as 'One of the five best hi-fi shops in the world.'

Since then, our activities have broadened to embrace a range of associated service areas which now include the custom installation of home cinema, lighting control, structured wiring for telephone, computers, television, cable, satellite and complete home control systems.

We've been building smart homes for over 20 years

As well as being a leading provider of Hi-Fi products, Grahams also specialise in Home Cinema installations, Multi-room Audio, Lighting and Heating Control Systems and much more. We also plan, design and install high-quality Integrated Homes.

Whether you wish to start small with a new state of the art Hi-Fi system or go all out for a more complex whole-house automation system. We promise not to 'blind you with science' and will make sure everything is explained in a clear and understandable way. You can even experience some smart home technology for yourself in one of our demonstration rooms.

Ultimately, we encourage you to visit us in-store to discuss your requirements with one of our experienced team.
