This project in Zermatt, Switzerland was completed in December 2016 and was a finalist for best lighting control in this year’s CEDIA EMEA awards. The owners had stayed in one of our previous chalets and wanted to replicate the concept in their own new chalet. The same design team including Grahams were appointed to do just that.
This chalet is one of seven in a brand-new development just 30M from one of the main ski lifts and is spread across seven floors with wonderful views of Zermatt and the Matterhorn.
Everything in the chalet is of the highest standard and accommodation includes 5 bedrooms, a media room/bar, a massage room and luxury spa with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There are over 400 channels of lighting and the Lutron Homeworks QS system makes this simple to operate, not only controlling lighting but also shutters, fans, towel rails, music and can even turn on the effect fires (see pic right). 15 zones of high quality music are delivered around the chalet using Linn DS amplifiers which allow the very highest quality streaming and more recently full integration with Spotify direct with the Spotify app. All bedrooms have B&O TVs and the main media room has an 85” B&O TV on a motorised bracket which is supplemented with an astonishing sounding surround system using Arcam’s AVR850 and Triad Speakers with Dolby Atmos.
The Spa uses two pairs of Bowers & Wilkins AM1 speakers and an in-wall sub-woofer which “rocks” if you want to party there too.
As with every modern home, robust Wi-Fi and a good Data Network were essential. 12 Ruckus Unleashed wireless access points cover the whole property with instant handover when moving around the chalet from access point to access point.
A 43” Sony TV is built-in above the real fire and appears by magic using a bespoke designed Future automation panel lift. The main living space uses Linn 530 digital active speakers with an additional Bowers & Wilkins Sub-woofer.
Grahams installed Lilin IP CCTV cameras to log coming and going through the main front door, ski room and owners store room. This is very reassuring to know who is coming and going when the Chalet is not occupied.
The house also uses Contro4 to standardise all of the system operations in each room so no matter which room you are in, and whatever TVs or equipment are in the room, the remotes all work the same way.
Over 65 different devices sit on the IP network, all of which we monitor and support remotely.
We could write a whole book on the different things we installed in this chalet, but a picture says a 1000 words.
