Meridian Sooloos 2.00
In 2008, Meridian Audio acquired Sooloos, a company established in New York in 2001 that manufactures networked home entertainment systems.
The Sooloos system is a source component like a CD player and comprises the Control:10 touch-screen device used to navigate your CD collection, and the Ensemble or a combination of the Source 1 & Twinstore. This includes the hard drives used to store the music files, and the outputs to connect it to a system, analogue or digital. The Source:One is completely fanless making it completely silent – a perfect fit in any high-end audio system.
The CD collection can be fed via the drive in the Control 10 or the CD drive in a PC or Mac. Using sophisticated CD ripping technology, Sooloos ensures accurate data retrieval from even damaged discs. Instead of searching through shelves of CDs, every CD you own is at your fingertips.
The standout feature of the Sooloos is its ease of use despite an incredibly powerful interface. One tap on the control:10 and the 17-inch high definition touch-screen displays the complete list of songs on the album, ready to play, along with the other albums by the same artist. You can also control the system using a PC, and an iPhone. The Control:10 can also be used to run Crestron applications to control your whole AV system. The big cover art on the Control-10 reminds one of browsing through an LP collection!
Offering 1TB as standard, it can rip discs into FLAC (lossless) files as well as simultaneously create smaller MP3s for use on a portable player.
