An Evening with Barb Jungr
Grahams are very happy to announce that the fantastic Barb Jungr will be playing a special one-off performance at our shoroom in Islington on the Thursday 19th January! (Details of times to be announced). Please let us know if you would like to come as this will be a limited attendance event and places will be booked. Britain's foremost chansonnier and song stylist, Barb Jungr, is one of the country's finest interpreters of contemporary song. Meridian Event
Grahams will be holding an exciting event this Saturday (10th) with Meridian Audio. Grahams have been Meridian dealers for 40 years now and we are proud to have been working in partnership with them since the beginning. Meridian recently released their 40th Anniversary Edition system featuring a special edition version of their 808.3 CD Player and DSP8000 speakers. Both of these are finished in a beautiful Ruby colour and have been tweaked from their already high performance to reach previously unreached performance levels. Gadget Show Filming Complete.... watch the video!!
We have just finished filming a segment with the Gadget Show for a test they are doing! John lent his huge experience in helping to chose a system with them for use in a comparison with the Human Voice. Expect to see John, some Meridian, Classe and B&W equipment on the 7th November on Channel 5! The Gadget Show episode has finally aired! It went out on Monday 7th - did anyone catch Johns appearance? Targeted predominately towards architects, interior designers and M&E consultants, the event may also appeal to homeowners. Mixing old and new technology, we have talk and demonstration/presentation of furniture restoration by Stephen Dwulit an expert on French polishing and antique and contemporary furniture restoration. There is lots of media work happening at the moment! We helped the You & Yours show on BBC Radio 4 with a look and listen to the Nautilus speakers last night, although we're not sure how good they will sound through a portable radio of course...............

B&W Factory Visit
A couple of weeks ago, Paul, Jude, John, Simon and David spent the day down at the B&W Factory in Worthing where they had a factory tour which included seeing the new speaker cabinet manufacturing process. Until recently the cabinets for the 800 series were all manufactured in Denmark but after B&W bought the Danish company a couple of years ago, they have now re-located the specialist fabrication equipment here to the UK where they have much better flexibility and control on production. Arcam Visit
On a lovely sunny day in September, we took a number of customers for a factory visit to Arcam in Cambridge. This is the second factory visit we have arranged (the first was a visit to Naim Audio last year) and judging by the feedback, we’ll be doing more of them. We coached around twenty people from Canonbury Yard to Waterbeach, just north of Cambridge and amazingly arrived at the factory earlier than expected – we had no idea that coaches could travel that fast! Cedia Awards
Established in 2006, the prestigious CEDIA Awards recognise and promote high quality system design, installation and integration within the home automation industry; setting the standard for CEDIA Electronic Systems Professional members across CEDIA Region 1. The judging panel had entries from all over Europe, Asia, Africa and the middle east and all entries were anonymous.The 2009 CEDIA awards took place at “The Brewery” in the City of London on Friday 3rd April and was a black-tie event with around 300 industry guests. CEDIA Trade Show
In early September David Graham attended the US CEDIA trade show in Indianapolis. This was an opportunity to not only see the latest developments in technology and new products, but also to look at new training programmes that will be relevant to us here in the UK. High Definition TV (HDTV) which is already reasonably well established in the US was being displayed in earnest and with very few exceptions, the quality of all the plasma, LCD displays and projectors looked absolutely stunning. We are already seeing the price / performance of these type products coming down to more affordable levels............

The impact of society’s ever-increasing energy consumption is something we are all becoming acutely aware of, and something we as individuals should consider seriously. We are of course taking this very seriously here at Grahams and have been designing and planning many of our installations more recently to take energy efficiency and consumption into account. Within our homes, items such as cookers, lights, and heaters are obvious consumers of large amounts of energy, but other less obvious things cumulatively make a significant impact. Linn Factory Visit
Five winners of our last newsletter Linn Competition were accompanied by David Graham and Jude Martins from Grahams on a VIP visit to the Linn Products factory in Glasgow, Scotland. It was a long and exciting day which included a full factory tour, lunch with Linn's Chairman, Ivor Teifenbrun MBE and a demonstration of some of the new developments at Linn. The Smart Show
A Few weeks ago we visited the Smart Show at the NEC in Birmingham. This trade-only show focuses on the electrical retail trade and covers all electrical appliances from fridges to plasma screens. Items that appeared to be getting the most interest were DAB (digital radio), numerous small LCD TV sets and DVB decoders for ‘free to air’ digital TV reception. Japan - Sharp UK Visit
I recently had a fantastic opportunity to visit Japan, courtesy of Sharp UK and Bob Wheeler of Marata Vision, one of our favourite suppliers. “How do you fancy a trip to Tokyo” said Bob. “The only problem is it means going next week”. Well, I thought about the proposition for around 30 milliseconds and said “yes”. CEATEC is Japan’s annual consumer electronics show and Sharp were launching some new home cinema technology which they were keen to show us.
